English is a required course in basic education,and reading ability plays an important role in English teaching.Among the many factors which affect the reading performance of middle school students,achievement goals,academic emotion and reading strategy are very important.By discovering the accomplishments of middle school students and the use of reading strategy and their interrelationship,this paper makes educators and parents grasp the development rules better and characteristics of middle school students'achievement goal and make better use of English reading strategies,So as to improve teachers' classroom teaching efficiency and also enable students to learn English in a more scientific way to improve their English reading performance.In this study,324 middle school students were used as the test subjects.By using the achievement goal scale,the middle school English reading strategy questionnaire and academic pride questionnaire as research tools to explore the relationship between achievement goal of middle school students and English reading performance.It also wants to explore the mediating role of reading strategy and academic pride.The study found:(1)Achievement goal has certain influence on middle school students' English reading achievement.(2)The influence of achievement goal on middle school students' reading performance has an effect between academic pride and English reading strategy.Achievement goal can not only directly affect English reading achievement,but also affect English reading achievement through academic pride and reading strategy.
