Zhang Dai,a famous writer and historian in the late Ming Dynasty,has profound attainments in many fields such as poetry,geography,phonology,Confucianism and so on.In the Ming and Qing Dynasties,both social reality and academic trends of thought have undergone dramatic changes.Zhang Dai,who is quite knowledgeable in the turbulent times,can give full play to his talents.He has a keen mind and excellent artistic innovation ability.Zhang Dai is a versatile writer and connoisseur of literature and art,who is proficient in all kinds of arts,leaving endless talks for future generations.In Zhang Daijicheng's works,his essays are especially touching,which make people shake their temperament and have thousands of thoughts.Starting from the stylistic perspective,this paper discusses the artistic style of Zhang Dai's essays,which can integrate the study of form and content and promote the research process of essays in the late Ming Dynasty.Language features,image connotation and structure layout are all important parts and directions of stylistics.To study Zhang Dai's essays from the perspective of stylistics,it is easier to find the true meaning behind the essays'forms.By understanding and grasping the stylistic characteristics of essays more carefully,we can clearly understand the unique stylistic value of essays in the late Ming Dynasty.Zhang Dai's essays are especially famous for his "Two Dreams":Dreams of Tao'an and Dreams of West Lake.The short and concise language,the orderly use of words and the speed of language rhythm are the aesthetic feeling of Zhang Dai's essays as well as the originality of his essays.Zhang Dai's sketches are characterized by his unhurried use of words and sentences and his concise and vivid expression of Tao and things.The interpretation and study of the image in Zhang Dai's works is not only the proper meaning under the thought of stylistics,but also the core element of exploring Zhang Dai's"two dreams".Zhang Dai's sketches are skillfully blended with images and emotions,conveying unspeakable extra-flavor motives.His insight into images helps to understand emotions.Especially,the analysis of the creation of dream images in this article can help us to understand more clearly the charm and life sustenance of Zhang Dai's essays.Zhang Dai usually chooses multiple imagery to describe various things and scenes in his "Two Dreams".Whether it is the combination of behavioral process or scene imagery,it is very daily and individualized,but it has infinite vitality and interest.Zhang Dai's essays are free and flexible in structure.Although they are short,their composition and layout are varied.Organizational order is stable and changeable.In the process of staggered transformation,we can often read the emotions and connotations beyond words.Zhang Dai's essays are characterized by open order,flexible structure and the transformation of various scenes.Such a structure greatly enriches the ideological connotation of Zhang Dai's essays and is easy to generate more associations and imaginations.The transformation of time and space,the flexible structure and the free and easy constitution make the article have more vivid vitality and emotional tension.It is precisely because of the combination of multiple characteristics of Zhang Dai's essays that they will give future generations infinite imagination space,and their essays also have the exemplary significance of a master.Zhang Dai's essay combines many styles of essays and forms unique characteristics.It is also because of the emergence of Zhang Dai's essays that they became important cultural codes and stylistic benchmarks during the Ming and Qing Dynasties,and had a great impact on the creation of essays of later generations.These are also the practical significance of studying Zhang Dai's essays from the perspective of stylistics.
