Since the 21st century, the movement of experimental philosophy has risen in European and American countries, and its rapid development momentum has aroused widespread concern in the philosophical circles. It originated from questioning the philosophical tradition of "Relying on Intuition",and advocates to abandon the traditional method of intuitive speculation and introducing experimental methods into philosophical research, and taking the statistical conclusions obtained from experiments as an important basis for philosophical research. As a new philosophical research model, experimental philosophy has its unique methodological characteristics.By introducing the common research methods of experimental philosophy, this paper tries to sort out the methodological characteristics, significance and challenges of experimental philosophy,to show our attitude towards this methodological revolution, and at the same time,to predict its future development direction. This thesis consists of three parts, namely, the traceability of experimental philosophy, the common experimental methods in philosophical research and the methodological examination of experimental philosophy. The first chapter briefly introduces the rise and development status of experimental philosophy;the second chapter shows the application of experimental methods in philosophical research through examples of philosophical research;the third chapter is the core content of this paper, summarizes the characteristics of experimental philosophy methodology, discusses the significance of experimental philosophy methodology to philosophical development, and combs the challenges and criticisms faced by this methodology. This paper attempts to describe the current situation and future development trend of this philosophical methodological revolution.
