Zisha Buddhist Sculpture Art Research

The purple clay Buddhist sculpture in Yixing is a kind of artistic creation which integrates the art of Buddha statue into the sculpture craft through the unique material of purple clay.Influenced by various factors such as historical changes,cultural forms and social development,purple clay Buddhist sculpture has different artistic expressions in different historical periods.This paper aims to sort out the development context of Yixing purple clay Buddhist sculptures,and explore its development laws and the artistic characteristics,so as to trigger the thoughts in the process of contemporary purple clay Buddhist sculpture creation.Starting from the origin of Yixing purple clay,this paper gradually goes deep into the study of the origin of purple clay Buddhist sculpture.Taking the birth of purple clay sculpture in the mid-late Ming Dynasty as the starting point,this paper vertically sorts out the development of purple clay Buddhist sculpture in the mid-late Ming Dynasty,the Qing Dynasty,the Republic of China,modern times and contemporary,and summarizes the laws and characteristics of its development.At the same time,the purple clay sculpture is compared with the Buddhist sculpture of Putian woodcarving,Dehua porcelain sculpture and jade carving horizontally to analyze the characteristics of its material,craftsmanship and the impact on Buddhist sculpture,so as to excavate the unique artistic connotation of purple clay Buddhist sculpture.Then,based on the innovation of ideas,craftsmanship and purple clay material,through the analysis and study of the integration and development of purple clay sculpture,this paper further arouses the thinking of the development of purple clay Buddhist sculpture art at present.Meanwhile,it also provides reference for confusion and innovations problems encountered during the study process of contemporary Yixing purple clay Buddhist sculpture creation.Yixing purple clay Buddhist sculpture has a long history and profound cultural connotations.This paper only makes a preliminary study and discussion on the art of purple clay Buddhist sculpture,there are more in-depth contents worthy of our excavation and study.
