The thesis takes "duoshao" as the research's object.On the one hand,we will analyzes the characteristics of "duoshao" from the aspect of ontology.On the another hand,from the perspective of teaching Chinese as a Second language,the situation of the "duoshao" meanings used by foreign students will be investigated.When it comes to the ontology,this paper divides the meanings of "duoshao"into three categories,and it also describes the features of them from three dimensions that refers to syntactic,semantic and pragmatics,when "duoshao" as nouns(duoshaol),adverbs(duoshao2),or interrogative pronouns(duosaho3).The syntax of"duoshao" is diverse but has its own characteristics.For example,"duoshaol" is often used as a subject and object in a sentence.While "duoshao2" can be placed in a predicate part and must located before a verb or an adjective."duoshao3" can be used as a syntactic component such as a subject,a predicate,a object,or an attributive in a sentence.The main usage of "duoshao" is as an interrogative pronoun,which derives abundant semantics in different sentences and contexts.At the same time,"duoshao"has lots of pragmatic functions,including expression of information,communication of diverse modalities,and expression of tone etc.Secondly,in view of the rich semantics of "duoshao",this paper also compared the words,which involved"duoshao" and its synonyms words,such as "shaowei","duo" and "shao".In the aspect of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,the thesis has compiled many corpus on the sentences contained "duoshao" that foreign students used.On the basis of it,the thesis analyze the situation of how many sentences were made by students with "duoshao".Then we found that the non-suspicious usage of "duoshao"is the most frequently to use,and the noun usage of "duoshao" is the lowest probability to ues.Based on these corpus,we analyze the errors that are easily generated when foreign students use "duoshao".Of course,from the perspectives of linguistics and cognitive linguistics,the thesis will explain why these error appeared.Finally,the relevant teaching suggestions are put forward,including the advise on how to arrange the usage of "duoshao" and also have some teaching principles.
