Psychobiographical Study Of Temuzhen's Personality

Psychobiography is a method to study the life stories of an individual of historic significance by using psychological concepts and theories.Temujin is a well-known figure that the Mongolian people are very familiar with.This study explored Temujin's personality traits with psychobiography method,and made a preliminary exploration of difference of his dual image in historyFirstly,this study used quantitative and qualitative analysis,and the results showed that six personality characteristics of Temujin:cruelty and pugnacity,forthright and chivalrous,shrewdness and competence,excellence,self-reliance and self-improvement,and martial spirit.Secondly,this study started with the key factors of growth in psychobiography and the background and cultural environment of the figure,extracted eight factors that affect Temujin's personality characteristics,and grasped their ways of action:(1)Family upheavals have deprived Temujin of his sense of security and control,created identity crisis,but which made Temujin more independent,and focusing on the development of self-ability;(2)The act of killing younger brothers in his childhood aroused Temujin's recognition of his kingship status.He established the consciousness of elders once again,and which provided a reference for Temujin to deal with the relationship between friends and enemies in his life;(3)Outstanding ancestors influenced the establishment of Temujin's life goal and the way to realize the goal.Temujin had been engaged in revenge war almost all his life to become a king;(4)Martial spirit,neither humble nor push,perseverance and other characteristics of parents had a direct and profound impact on him;(5)The harsh natural environment and the chaotic social and political environment threatened the most basic survival of the ancient Mongolians,which affected Temujin to actively seek development from outside,like the people of the same era;(6)He and Li culture is an important factor for Temujin's some personality traits.such as cruelty and pugnacity,forthright and chivalrous;(7)The worship of strength and hero urged Temujin to pay attention to the cultivation of personality traits such as self-strength and firmness,and to shoulder the national responsibility,resist foreign oppression;(8)Nomadic and hunting life contain metaphorical meanings of conquest and war,which has greatly stimulated people's adventure,resistance,competition and martial worship and other personality traits.Finally,this study also explored the in fluencing factors of the change from Temujin meta-image to portrayed image,and found that the factors mainly include the following three aspects:the two-sides of Temujin original image;self-worth protection of different groups;the different needs and motivations of people in different historical periods.
