A Comparative Study Of Modern Chinese Modal Particles "?" And "La"

There are many research achievements in modern Chinese modal words,but their internal research is unevenly distributed.The research results are focused on typical modal particles.The attention to atypical and derivative modal particles is insufficient.The research methods are not comprehensive enough.And the comparative study is insufficient.In order to promote Chinese ontology research and the perfection of the related theories of Chinese popularization,this paper chooses to make a comparative study of the modern Chinese modal particles "Lou" and "La",which is based on the practical problems encountered by predecessors in the process of Chinese popularization.Firstly,the specific distribution of modal words "Lou" and "La" in declarative sentences,interrogative sentences,imperative sentences and exclamatory sentences is sorted out.And it is found that "Lou" excludes exclamatory sentences and "Lou" lacks exclamatory mood.By comparing the modal meaning of the modal words "Lou" and "La" and summarizing their respective universal characteristics,it is concluded that the tone meaning of "Lou" is "strong message informing and demand of responding".And that of "La" is "weak message informing and emotional expression ".Secondly,based on the above research conclusions,according to the subjectivity theory,from the perspective,emotion and cognition of the speaker,it is concluded that the users of "La" tend to form a perspective from the "ego".While the users of "La" tend to form a perspective from "alter ego".And the emotional expression of "Lou" is relatively obscure,but the emotional expression of"La" is straightforward.The words with "Lou" are not necessarily consistent with the subjective cognition,but the words with "La" are basically consistent with the subjective cognition.Finally,from the perspective of pragmatics,this paper compares and summarizes the discourse marker functions of "Lou" and "La" in conversation.In terms of communicative interaction function,"Lou" is "continuing dialogue" and "La" is "reminding change" based on "empathy function".Both of them have "contextual adaptation function".However,the content of adaptation is different."Lou" mainly centers on "speech context" adaptation."La" mainly centers on "background context"adaptation.In terms of information relevance function,combined with relevance theory,it is concluded that "Lou" has the function of "negative information relevance",which can be regarded as the mark of "negative expectation".While "La" has the function of "positive information relevance",which can be regarded as the mark of "positive expectation".
