Zhou Yueqing And The Study Of Opera

Zhou Leqing?1785-1855?,born in Haining,Zhejiang Province,was a drama writer in the Qing dynasty.He had several literary names,Anliu,Wenquan and LianQingzi.He attended the local imperial examination and failed again and again.Later,because of his father,Zhou Leqing worked as an official and began his career from the 19^th year of Jiaqing?1814?.He was appointed as Zhoupan,Zhixian until the4^th year of Xianfeng?1854?.In the 5^th year of Xianfeng?1855?,Zhou Leqing died in laizhou,shandong province.Zhou Leqing had lots of creations in his life,Jingyuan Caotang chugao,Jingyuan Caotang Zachao,Jingyuan Caotang shihua,Jingyuan Caotang zhutan,and drama Butianshi Chuanqi,which contained poems,essays and qus.On the basis of prior research,this paper will study Zhou Leqing's family background,life,friendship and the creation,artistic style of his opera creation Butianshi Chuanqi.This paper is divided into three chapters:Chapter one studies Zhou Leqing's family background,official experience,friendship and writings.Firstly,it makes a detailed textual research on his family background in order to understand his overall family background and explore Zhou Leqing's grandfather and father's important influence on him.And it researches on zhou leqing's wife and concubines to describe his marriage life,and makes a supplementary study on Zhou Leqing's descendants.Secondly,it investigates Zhou Leqing's official experience,in order to grasp the overall career of his life.Thirdly,it explores Zhou Leqing's contacts with other literati,and investigates the impact of these activities on Zhou Leqing's ideology and drama creations.Fourthly,it studies Zhou Leqing's writings,in addition to the study of his poetry,but also focused on the versions of his drama Butianshi Chuanqi and their relationship.The second chapter studies the creation cause and theme of Butianshi Chuanqi.This paper analyzes the creation motive of Zhou Leqing's Butianshi Chuanqi,and points out that the gist of Butianshi Chuanqi is to criticize the relationship between nature and man.Zhou Leqing delineated his own ideal order through the subversion of the historical ending,and showed the times crisis of the middle Qing dynasty and the his own spiritual dilemma.The third chapter studies the artistic characteristics of Butianshi Chuanqi.Firstly,based on the text system of Butianshi Chuanqi,it points out the creation tendency of"poetizing"in Butianshi Chuanqi.Zhou Leqing adopted the"drama group"style during his creation,forming a unique concept of drama creation,and his stage setting reflects the pursuit of lyric effect.Secondly,it expounds Zhou Leqing's concept of"drama history"and the specific performance of his drama creation under the guidance of this concept.Finally,the paper studies the characteristics of the song structure of the Butianshi Chuanqi and judge whether it accords with metre.The drama made a bold breakthrough in the composition of the traditional drama literary structure in the drama creation and it has achieved the harmonization of the metre.It represents the new trend of the creation of the Southern Zaju in the middle of the Qing Dynasty.
