Compared with other provinces,substances use among students in Guangdong Province is higher,and college students’ substances use is higher than that of primary and secondary school students.It is important to investigate the patterns and risk factors of substances use among college students in Guangdong Province.Furthermore,this study classifies substances into three categories: tobacco,alcohol and drugs,and addicts are use drugs more.Therefore,it is necessary to discuss the differences in their initial age of substances use and the risk factors.Therefore,this study contain two parts.Study 1 investigate the use of substance among college students by questionnaire,and discuss the risk factors of substances use from four aspects: family,peer,personality and childhood trauma.It also discuss the relationship between parenting style,deviant peer affiliation,impulsive personality and substance use.The results show that:(1)the number of people trying to drink is significantly higher than that of trying to smoke.And the number of people who drink now is far more than the number of people who smoke.Moreover,boys start to smoke and drink earlier than girls.And there are more boys than girls who smoke or drink.There are obvious gender differences in smoking and drinking.(2)Curiosity and peer influence are the main reasons why these students initially tried to use substances.(3)Mother rejection,deviant peer affiliation and peer smoking are all risk factors affecting students’ smoking.Mother’s emotional warmth is a protective factor to prevent students from smoking.And deviant peer affiliation plays a mediating role in the influence of mother’s rejection on student’s smoking behavior,and in the influence of mother’s emotional warmth on the student’s smoking behavior.(4)Father’s attitude towards drinking,peers’ attitude towards drinking,sensation seeking and emotional neglect are factors that affect students’ drinking behavior.Father’s emotional warmth and mother’s emotional warmth are the protective factors to prevent students from drinking.Also deviant peer affiliation plays a mediating role in the influence of father’s emotional warmth on the student’s drinking behavior,and in the influence of mother’s emotional warmth on the student’s drinking behavior,and in the influence of sensation seeking on student’s drinking behavior.Study 2 also use questionnaires to investigate the use of addictive substances and the riskfactors of addicts,and compare the results with the results of students.The results show that:(1)Addicts are more likely to use the cigarettes,alcohol,and drugs than the students,and start using these substances relatively earlier.(2)The main reasons for attempting substances use are curiosity and pleasure seeking,which are different from those of students.(3)Physical abuse is a risk factor affecting the smoking behavior of addicts.Mother’s emotional warmth is a protective factor affecting the behavior of addicts drinking,and father’s rejection is a risk factor affecting the use of sedative substances.In general,students use cigarettes and alcohol at a young age.parenting style,deviant peer affiliation,childhood trauma,and sensation seeking can all affect substances use.Therefore,in the prevention of adolescent substances use,we should also consider their family environment,school environment,parenting style and peers influence.
