Vocabulary is the basis of language expression.Therefore,vocabulary learning and learning strategies for vocabulary are important during second language acquisition.It is widely recognized that using learning strategies can influence the capability and level of learners,because vocabulary is an important foundation to determine the language expression skills of learners.There is therefore no doubt that study of vocabulary learning strategies is very important in learning and teaching Chinese as a second language.The methods I use in this paper are quantitative and qualitative research,using questionnaire and interviews among elementary-level Chinese learners from different countries.These methods are based on a questionnaire to interview in depth about vocabulary learning strategies of elementary level Chinese learners.This paper will discuss the differences between Chinese learners' vocabulary learning strategies in order to come up with suggestions for elementary Chinese vocabulary classroom teaching.There are four parts:The first chapter is about the background,aim,significance and theoretical overview of study,including the contents and methods of research.The second chapter uses comparative analysis of different elementary Chinese learners' vocabulary using the learning strategies questionnaire to find out differences between specific learning methods.The third chapter will discuss the vocabulary learning strategies of representative elementary Chinese learners using interviews,and give suggestions for vocabulary teaching advice for different learners.The final chapter concludes with suggestions for teaching elementary-level Chinese vocabulary to learners with different characteristics,using vocabulary learning strategies based on the experience of the others' research.
