Yang Xianyi And Gladys's Translation Of "The Palace Of Eternal Life" On Opera Translation Thoughts

The quantity of translation of Chinese classics has continued increasing.Most of the translation works concentrate on historical episodes,classical novels,etc.When it came into the 21 st century,the communication between Chinese culture and foreign culture are more closely frequent and various.More and more different kinds of Chinese literary works are translated to make a pose on the stage in front of the foreign readers,and the amount of translations of drama literary works increased significantly.Many excellent translators sprung up during the period,Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang are the typical representatives.Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang enjoyed a high reputation both home and abroad as experts and scholars in modern Chinese translation.The research papers on the translation of the two are also increasing year by year,but their english translations of drama literature have been less studied.Moreover,the study on the translation of drama literature where the research status is far chaotic has not been the mainstream with no corresponding theory and method in the field of translation studies.By analyzing the Yang-Dai's translation career,the relationship between their translation concepts in their english translation of The Palace of Eternal Youth and Culture Turn in Translation Studies,it puts emphasis on the ontological characteristics of the drama.This paper analyzes the translation of Yang Dai's translation of The Palace of Eternal Youth,puts forward the idea that it is necessary to pay attention to the characteristics of the drama and literature of the original text and then carry out translation practice activities based on the perspicuity of translation ontology to be faithful to the language and style of the drama literature,and reflects on the Culture Turn in Translation Studies.
