The Warring States Period is a period of great turbulence,great development and great change in Chinese history.The whole society is bringing forth new ideas and prosperity.Hangers-on group was flourishing under such a background of the times.Hangers-on refer to those who feed on and serve nobles.They were intellectuals at the lower levels of society and part of the Class of Shi.Their quantity was huge and their quality was uneven.They relied on their master's support and serve the master with their skill.The trajectory of the Hangers-on's life reflected the changing trend of the whole society at that time,and also reflected the mobility of a class at that time.From the perspective of social mobility,this paper plans to study the origin,economic source,social status,ultimate destiny and existence value of the hangers-on,in order to have a holistic grasp of the living conditions and life trajectory of the hangers-on,and to have a more comprehensive understanding of the social history of the Warring States Period.The introduction mainly introduces the reasons for choosing this topic,current research situation and research methods.By comparing and distinguishing the concept of hangers-on and several similar concepts,the definition of hangers-on group is clarified.So the research object can be selected accurately,which lays a foundation for the study of the hangers-on.The first chapter mainly studies the social background of the existence of the hangers-on.As early as the Spring and Autumn Period,there have been hangers-on.However,hangers-on can develop and grow in the Warring States Period,showing a prosperous scene,which is closely related to the social situation in the Warring States Period.This chapter analyses the social background of the Warring States Period from four aspects:the change of land system,political system,especially the change of the system of selecting officials,the reorganization of the country and social mobility brought by the war,and the rise of the Class of Shi.and probes into the reasons for the rise of the hangers-on group.The second chapter discusses the composition,living conditions and ultimate fate of the hangers-on group.Firstly,the composition of the hangers-on group reflects the source and the starting point of the hangers-on group.Secondly,the survival status of the hangers-on group is mainly discussed from their economic sources and social status.The main economic source of the hangers-on is the owner's support.By becoming a hangers-on,they have changed their economic situation and improved their social status.Their living conditions explain their mobility.Finally,this chapter studies the ultimate fate of the hangers-on.This is the end of the life of the hangers-on group,and also the culmination they have reached.These three aspects show us the life track of the hangers-on.The third chapter discusses the existence value of the hangers-on group through their deeds.The value of the hangers-on group mainly lies in seven aspects:participating in political planning,solving difficulties for the master,providing military or military support,snooping intelligence,acting as a spy,admonishing the master,writing books for the master,and as a talent reserve.This is not only the existence value of the hangers-on,but also the efforts made by the hangers-on to change the fate.Through their own actions,they write the history of the hangers-on.The forth chapter studies the social significance of the existence of the hangers-on group.This part studies the influence of hangers-on on the political pattern,talent system,cultural development,thoughts of all classes of authors during the Warring States Period.It not only summarizes and sublimates the existence value of hangers-on,but also has a comprehensive grasp of social history.
