In recent years,the development of Confucius Institutes around the world plays an important role in the process of globalization.In order to promote the development of Confucius Institutes,it is necessary to further understand the characteristics and existing issues of Confucius institutes in Chinese language teaching and cultural communication.Due to the difference in national conditions and cultures of different countries,the methods of Chinese teaching and cultural communication in each of Confucius institutes are also different accordingly.Therefore,it is necessary to conduct research on Confucius Institutes in different countries and regions in an effort to understand the situation,characteristics and issues of Chinese language teaching,and cultural communication in Confucius institutes thereby proposing corresponding solutions and promoting the development of Chinese language teaching and cultural communication in Confucius Institutes.At present,Thailand has the largest number of Confucius Institutes ranking the second in the Asia,but there are quite less research published on Chinese language teaching and Chinese cultural communication in Confucius Institutes in Thailand.The author is a Chinese language learner from Thailand,Graduating from Mae Fah Luang University with a bachelor's degree in Chinese language teaching and once taught in the Confucius Institute of Mae Fah Luang University as a postgraduate.The author has both learning and teaching experience in Chinese language,which provides the conditions for a comprehensive study of Chinese language teaching and cultural communication in the Confucius Institute of Mae Fah Luang University.This paper offers a detailed analysis of Chinese language teaching and the spread of Chinese culture in the Confucius Institute of Mae Fah Luang University by using questionnaire survey method,case analysis method,classroom observation and interview method also putting forward some specific suggestions.This paper mainly analyzes Chinese language teaching and cultural communication and the research content is divided into six parts.The first chapter is the introduction in which the author expounds the origin of the research and the significance of the topic.By sorting out and evaluating the research on Chinese language teaching and cultural communication in Confucius Institutes,the form of research framework and the research methods are determined.The second chapter is the analysis and survey design of the current situation of Chinese language teaching and Chinese culture communication in the Confucius Institute of Mae Fah Luang University of Thailand,including the design of the questionnaire,the contents with process of the survey and the analysis of the basic situation of the survey subjects.The third chapter,on the basis of questionnaire survey and interview,analyzes the Chinese teaching situation from six aspects:Chinese curriculum,teaching content,teaching resources,teaching methods,Chinese teachers and Chinese tests.The fourth chapter,on the basis of questionnaire survey and interview,analyzes Chinese cultural communication from four aspects:communicator,communication content,the mode of communication and communication effect.The fifth chapter summarizes the characteristics and problems of Chinese language teaching and Chinese culture communication in the Confucius Institute of Mae Fah Luang University and summarizes the research difficulties and make a research strategic plan.Finally chapter six is the conclusion.The innovation of this study is using the variety of research methods,the collection of first-hand data to conduct a comprehensive investigation,exploration on the teaching of Chinese,and the dissemination of Chinese culture in the Confucius Institute of Mae Fah Luang University.The research result shows that via compulsory Chinese courses for the whole school,courses in undergraduate students of traditional intensive Chinese medicine,self-developed "online Chinese practice and test system",cultural activities are various and by actively cooperating with other institutions for mutual promotion,based-on-local services and many other advantages to peaceful is worth learning and using for reference.
