Language is the most important tool for people to express themselves, but it is not the only means. They should also express their thoughts through paralanguage, body language and facial expressions.Sub-language is divided into broad sub-language and narrow sub-language.The narrow sense of paralanguage is a kind of ideographic symbol system in which people communicate information or emotions by means of sound paralanguage, silent paralanguage and functional articulation in the process of communication.A narrow sense of paralanguage is defined as a "language" which has no fixed meaning and is sometimes referred to as a "quasi-language" or "auxiliary language".It is the task of paralinguistics to systematically study the features, functions and rules of the auxiliary language in the process of interpersonal communication by using scientific linguistic methods.Paralinguistic studies became a hot topic in China in the late 1980s and early 1990s.But so far, there is no Mongolian sub-language research work. This paper gives a detailed introduction of paralanguage and its research at home and abroad.Taking the dialogues of the main characters in the Mongolian TV drama "on the grassland"as the corpus, this paper analyzes the paralanguage information and investigates the application of paralanguage in Mongolian spoken language. The full text is composed of five parts:Introduction,Chapter One,Chapter two, chapter three and conclusion. In the introduction, the author explains the topic and its significance, the current research situation at home and abroad, the research methods and the sources of the Corpus.Chapter One discusses the general situation of paralanguage research, including the concept and type of paralanguage, the relationship between paralanguage and language, and the relationship between paralanguage and language use.The second chapter, based on the analysis of the Corpus in Mongolian TV play on the grassland, classifies the expression forms of paralanguage into three categories:voiced paralanguage, silent paralanguage and functional pronunciationChapter three summarizes the characteristics and pragmatic functions of paralanguage in Mongolian. In the conclusion part, the author summarizes the contents of the full text and summarizes the viewpoints.
