A Study Of The Contribution Of Modern And Modern Historians In East Zhejiang To The New Historiography

In the early 20th century,under the rule of the Qing government,the Chinese and foreign troubles and the social crisis continued to deepen.The historians represented by Liang Qichao set off a vigorous new historical movement,aiming to take social reforms under the guidance of the New Historiography.On the basis of violent criticism of traditional historiography,it proposes a series of new ideas such as writing folk history,expanding the scope of historiography,serving history as a social reality,and interdisciplinary research methods,so that history can get rid of the traditional way of history and begin to develop in a new direction,which has promoted the modernization of historiography and has great significance in the history of Chinese historiography.Chen Fuchen,Cai Yuanpei,He Bingsong,Liu Jie,and Chen Xunci,five modem historians of Eastern Zhejiang,as the guides or followers of the new historiography,made important contributions to the construction of the New Historiography through their respective historiographic activities.This paper introduces the historical thoughts and activities of five modern historians in the field of the New Historiography.Chen Fuchen advocates observing and analyzing history with an evolutionary perspective,using statistical methods to study history,he thought historiography should pay attention to people’s livelihood and social utility,and expand the scope of historiography research;He Bingsong actively translated and introduced the works of the Western New Historiography,strived to build the subject of Chinese historiography,and practiced the idea of the New Historiography in history education,And invented a set of general history theory and research methods.;Cai Yuanpei put forward the concept of cultural history,and advocated the use of relevant disciplines to do research and emphasize the role of history on culture;Liu Jie put forward a new method of compiling historical books,which further elucidated the function of history,and wrote the Historical Manuscript of Chinese History;Chen Xunci advocated a comprehensive view of history and emphasized the value of history,and devoted himself to the Eastern Zhejiang Historiography.On the one hand,their historical thoughts and activities have made the New Historiography widely disseminated,on the other hand,they have enriched the research content of the New Historiography,clarified the development direction of the New Historiography,and made the New Historiography more scientific..The above five historians have inextricably linked with the Eastern Zhejiang historiography.First,they are all from Eastern Zhejiang.Secondly,they praised the Eastern Zhejiang historiography,some of them are masters of the Eastern Zhejiang historiography,and there are several historians who has done research on the Eastem Zhejiang historiography.Based on this,this paper also analyzes their common characteristics with the Eastern Zhejiang historiography,and believes that they inherit the Eastern Zhejiang historiography.In conclusion,the author tries to construct the Modern Eastern Zhejiang historiography,which can explain the contribution of the Modern Eastern Zhejiang historiography to the New Historiography.This is the ultimate purpose of the author’s writing.
