In recent years,with the development of China's economic strength and the improvement of its international status,China's international influence is growing,and the status of Chinese language is getting higher and higher.In the United States,children group has become one of the new forces of Chinese language learning.For young children,they often have a strong interest in learning Chinese through Chinese animation,Chinese food,Chinese national treasure panda,Chinese traditional lantern and other Chinese cultural products.The China exhibit at the St.Louis children's museum,which officially opened to visitors in February 2019,is full of Chinese cultural elements.Therefore,this paper takes the visiting children in China exhibit as the research object.The author draws lessons from scholars at home and abroad on the study of Chinese cultural elements and experiential children's museums,compiles a children's interest observation table and interview plan,which purpose is to investigate the interest of American children in Chinese culture.This paper adopts the methods of literature,observation and interview.First of all,the definition,category,classification of Chinese cultural elements and the characteristics of experiential museums are clarified.Then,observe how long the children visitors will stay in front of different Chinese cultural elements in the China exhibit to analyze the children's interests.Afterwards,in-depth interviews would be conducted with relevant children.Finally,the author will analyze the observation results and interview contents to find out the interest of American children in Chinese cultural elements.
