"Guanzi" Military Thinking Research

Guanzi was the collection of papers of Guan Zhong School.Military thought was a content that cannot be ignored in the thought of Guanzi,and the military thought of Guanzi was an important part of the military thought in the pre-Qin Dynasty.Guanzi was written in the Spring and Autumn and warring States period,and the formation of the military thought of Guanzi was deeply influenced by the social and academic environment at that time.This paper mainly studies the main contents of the military thought of Guanzi from the following four aspects.The first part summarizes Yin Yang Wu Xing and Bing Yin Yang,and then analyzes the Bing Yin Yang thoughts with " Send troops at the right time " as the general rule in Guanzi,starting with the three parts of Youguan,Sishi and Wuxing.The second part discusses the war view of Guanzi.Guanzi proposed to treat war dialectically,advocated the unity of “taking wars seriously " and " being prudent in fighting assessments ",and believed that sending troops should be justified and moral.Guanzi emphasized that military affairs should be attaches importance to the talent and conforming to the will of the people,and put forward the military war concept of" gain talents”.The third part expounds the military principle of Guanzi.Guanzi believed that the premise of strengthening the army was to achieve national prosperity,combined military measures with administrative measures,and puts forward the strategy of keeping soldiers in agriculture.The core of the principle of Guanzi's governing soldiers is to make a clear distinction between reward and punishment,and to improve the enthusiasm of soldiers to fight through punishment for crimes and meritorious service and regulation of military style.The fourth part analyzes the Guanzi's method of using troops.Guanzi attached great importance to strategy and believed that in combat,it was necessary to have a long-term tactical vision,fully understand the situation of the war,and master the initiative of the war,so that military skills could be flexibly used according to the specific analysis of the particular conditions of the war.The last part of the article is the summary of the paper,which gives a brief explanation of the characteristics of Guanzi's military thought and his position in the history of military thought in the pre-Qin period.Guanzi's thought of military science was eclectic,and put forward a systematic and dialectical concept of military science according to the needs of the times,which had an important position in the history of military thought in the pre-Qin Dynasty.
