From the beginning of Oracle and Bronze inscriptions,small seal scripts,as a typeface with excessive text from ancient to modern,has considerable modern significance in terms of glyph construction and dissemination methods.In the evolution of Chinese characters from "classic pictographs" to "purification of abstraction",small seal scripts played a key role in inheriting and maintaining the traditional characters,that is,the complicated and redundant lines of ancient characters and the simplified order of modern characters.In the contemporary era,the font structure,writing style and communication medium of Chinese characters have undergone tremendous changes,but small seal scripts still continue his poetic vitality in the fields of art design and calligraphy carving.This paper uses the dialectical concepts of "simplification" and "redundancy" as clues,through the explicit surface layer of the text symbol,and based on the theory of philology.From multiple angles of aesthetics,he deeply explores the essence and laws,logic and methods behind small seal scripts’ formation,gains insight into the generation mechanism of small seal scripts’ formation,plus the thinking trend and aesthetic thinking of the times.Combined with related theories such as visual perception and Gestalt psychology,this paper analyzes the relationship and important contributions of small seal scripts’ "reduction" and "redundancy" in the development of history in terms of aesthetic perception,functional efficiency,and cultural choice.And the conscious development of the calligraphy art after small seal scripts and the awakening and practice of modern design consciousness with small seal scripts as the core in modern and modern times.It is expected that the research in this article will bring new thinking and inspiration to future visual creation,artistic strategies and cultural cognition. |
