Three Ways Of Thinking In Xunzi's Academic Thoughts

As a model of pre-Qin scholars,Xuncius' ideological system was highly original and compatible,which benefited from Xuncius' excellent thinking quality.Xuncius' thinking taked on a more objective and academic attitude due to his solemn sense of The Times and his light but alienated sense of participation.Xuncius lifelong learning thought process could be divided into the objective value of the humanities world open up to the value in the history of the continuation of the internal consistency and,to the reed adult-education mission bear three stages,we can from the discourse of academic thought of Xuncius and identify three dimensions: personal ethics and politics,the dividing line between the objectivity of ancient and modern horizon identification and the historical consciousness,and the premise of language and human understanding.They had the logical relation of internal advancement and corresponded to three thinking modes of Xunzi respectively: unified thinking,generative thinking and inductive thinking.The unified thinking focused on the definition and framework of behavioral ethics and political ethics,which included the thinking of the saint and the king's model of value,and affirmed the necessity of the existence of the value hierarchy.Generative thinking seeked for the consistency in the continuity of history through the synchronic interpretation of historical evolution,and finally leaded to the thinking of the cultural community,valuing the integration of the relationship between history and the present.In inductive thinking,it begined with the recognition of the equality and objectivity of the subject of life,taked the way of thinking about the understanding of history and self-knowledge,and finally cane down to clarifying the possibility and conditions of human understanding.In this way,Xuncius reconstructed the intrinsic root of the doctrine of rites and Music,and established the significance of its existence in a broader dimension,and the value world and historical perspective jointly gave birth to the realistic destination of the doctrine of rites and music.With his emphasis on induction and classification,Xuncius ' general thinking of Confucianism inspired the Confucian classics of the Han and Han dynasties,and made the study of objective knowledge relatively independent of political life,opening up new possibilities for the advance and fall of later generations of knowledge.The historical writing of synchronic made the historical practice of the rule of three generations complete as a public memory which helped to construct the consciousness of cultural community.In the sequence of morality and history,it contained a new identity.Xuncius continued the Confucian tradition of Embedding moral consciousness in historical writing by Confucius and Mencius,and opened a new chapter for the evaluation of history and culture,which was admired by later generations.
