Since the national implementation of the "two single and two child" fertility policy in 2011,and the comprehensive implementation of a couple's policy of having two children in October 2015,the group of non only children has grown again. However, the situation of the non only children in the new era, especially the non only children in the city,is quite different from that of the non only children in the traditional sense. Therefore, whether the research on the non only children before the implementation of the "second child" policy in the new era is suitable for the non only children under the new policy has become a problem to be discussed. In this study,321 students from grade 3 to grade 6 in three schools in Tianjin were selected as the subjects. They were divided into two groups: the only child and the non only child. The questionnaire survey was carried out by using the questionnaire of children's subjective quality of life and the questionnaire of children's mental health to understand the subjective quality of life and mental health of the only child and the non only child in the middle and senior grades of primary schools Finally, according to the results of the study, some suggestions are put forward. The results were as follows:1.There was no significant difference in subjective quality of life between the only child and the non only child. The gender difference has no significant effect on the subjective quality of life of the only child and the non only child. The total score of the subjective quality of life of the non only child is slightly higher than that of the only child, and the total score of the subjective quality of life of the non only child is slightly lower than that of the only child. There are significant differences in the scores of self-awareness between the only child and the non only child groups.2.There was no significant difference between the only child group and the non only child group in the total score of the mental health scale.3.There is a significant correlation between the total score of subjective quality of life and the total score of mental health of the only child and the non only child in the middle and senior grades of primary school students.4.The score of depression dimension in subjective quality of life has a positive predictive effect on the total score of mental health of the only child;the score of depression dimension in subjective quality of life and physical emotion together have a positive predictive effect on the total score of mental health of the non only child.
