| The later period of Yuan Dynasty experienced a time of social unrest,and the winds of seclusion was prevalent in that time.For the purpose of researching the seclusion psychology of poets in Late Yuan,Liu Renben,Wang Mian,Ni Zan and Dai Liang were selected for case studies to explore the change of mindset of literati and the seclusion culture of Late Yuan.This paper consists of four chapters.The introduction of this paper tracks back to the history of Chinese ancient seclusion culture,illustrates the aim of this paper,and introduces the current situation of Late Yuan poets’ seclusion psychology study.The first chapter discusses an official seclusive poet,Liu Renben,who inherits Chinese ancient tradition of official seclusion,transcends the contradiction between becoming an official and living a seclusive life with his official seclusive mindset,and achieves spiritual balance with positive attitude.The second chapter analyzes Wang Mian’s seclusion psychology which is so complex and conflicting.Deeply influenced by Confucianism which advocates the active accession to the reality,although Wang Mian lives a recluse life,he never forget the concern about reality and society.The third chapter select Ni Zan as an typical example to discuss a type of hermits who withdraw from the world and show no concern for social issue.Amusing themselves by composing and drinking,they try to create a land of idyllic beauty apart from the turbulent society.A typical adherent poet of the Yuan Dynasty,Dai Liang,is the subject of the fourth chapter.This chapter discusses Dai Liang’s dual identity as both adherent and hermit,explores the complex and diverse reasons why he live a seclusive life,and represents his seclusion psychology meticulously.The innovation of this paper is to research the seclusion psychology of poets in Late Yuan from personal perspective,deeply explore poets’ individual experience that was formerly concealed under grand narrative,and present seclusion culture of the Yuan Dynasty in more ways.In addition,this paper choose Liu Renben as a case to explore official seclusion culture of the Yuan Dynasty.This paper also breaks the stereotype of Wang Mian which likes a arrogant hermit,reinterprets his imagine,and presents his true character. |
