Reflections On Early Research On Chinese Beliefs

Based on the characteristics and focus of the early Chinese studies in the Sinology,this article takes the review of the Chinese and foreign academics' overview as the background,and focuses on the analysis of the new theory of Chinese Literary Anthropology-"Jade Religion",To explore why and how the "Jade Religion" theory is used to find the root of the belief that drives the Chinese civilization;then to reflect on the Chinese literary anthropology's practice process of constructing the Chinese cultural theory system.This article consists of three chapters.The first chapter pointing out that because of the controversy over the three generations of historical genealogy,religion is rarely discussed related to the early china in archaeology,history,anthropology,and comparative literature.Therefore,the second chapter has three sections: The first section summarizing the two focus issues of early Chinese cultural research:(1)the characteristics and continuity of Chinese civilization;(2)the Bronze Age and the Jade Age.And believes that the "Jade Religion " theory is a powerful response and supplement to these two focal points.The second section combs the evolution of Ye Shuxian's academic thought in detail,focusing on why he proposed "Jade Religion".The third section makes an in-depth analysis of the meaning of "Jade Religion",focusing on collecting and integrating 15 years of research on the road of jade.This article believes that the " Road of Jade and Silk " survey aims to explore how the prehistoric China unite through the jade culture.In view of the lack of attention or prejudice to the "Jade Religion" in the academic circles,at the third chapter,the author combined with the analysis of Durkheim 's religious theory,to explain why the early China's worship of jade culture can also be called "jade religion".This article is the first article to comprehensively analyze the "Jade Religion " theory.Through this research,the author hopes to analysis why the worship of jade becomes "religion" ? and why did the study of the origin of civilization become the theoretical discourse of Chinese comparative literature? The author also hopes that this research will help to comprehensively analyze the active exploration and pioneering of Chinese literary anthropology in the field of early Chinese studies and reviews its innovations and deficiencies.
