"A Cheng NP" Format Research

"A cheng NP" is a common expression format in modern Chinese,in which "cheng" is constant term,"A" and "NP" are variable terms.Their formal meanings are rich and rhetorical,and they are frequently used in daily life.However,there are not a lot of relevant literatures in the field of linguistics.This paper will be "A cheng NP" format as the research object,through the collection and analysis of a large number of corpus,the types and characteristics of its structural components,the overall meaning of format,the factors that influence the meaning of format,the pragmatic functions and the rhetorical device are elaborated,and compare it to the related format "A de xiang NP",the syntactic,semantic and pragmatic characteristics of "A cheng NP" format are obtained.The introduction first determines the research object of "A cheng NP" format,then summarizes the related researches of predecessors,and explains the significance of the topic,the research methods and the source of corpus.The first chapter analyzes the structural components of "A cheng NP" format.Format components are the basis of format and the important source of its meaning.This chapter makes detailed analysis of the nature,semantics and structure of the constant term "cheng",the variable term "A" and "NP" respectively.The second chapter makes a semantic analysis,explores the type of "A cheng NP",divides it into objective meaning and subjective meaning,and subdivides subjective meaning into subjective attitude meaning and subjective measure meaning,which includes subjective large amount meaning and subjective small amount meaning.And from the perspective of the form components and semantic relations,this paper explores the factors that affect the form meaning.It is concluded that the number of syllables and semantic features of "A",the semantic features of "NP" and the internal relations of format all have an impact on format meaning.The third chapter explores the unique pragmatic value of "A cheng NP" format.In terms of pragmatic function,"A cheng NP" format has the functions of description,emphasis,judgment and focus;in terms of rhetorical device,it focuses on the unique rhetorical color of "A cheng NP" format,and finds that it has the rhetorical effect of metaphor and exaggeration.The fourth chapter compares "A cheng NP" format with "A de xiang NP" format,and compares the similarities and differences between "A cheng NP" format and "A de xiang NP" format from the perspectives of structural components,syntactic functions,formalmeaning types and pragmatic features.The comparison highlights the characteristics of "A cheng NP" format,so as to gain a more comprehensive understanding of "A cheng NP" format.The conclusion part summarizes the whole paper and reflects on the shortcomings of the paper.
