At this stage,primary school English teachers devote a lot of energy to English reading teaching,but there are still some problems such as low interest in English reading,lack of understanding of reading paragraph,and students' English reading performance is not well.Mind map is a diagram to express people's thinking process.As a map and tool to express English knowledge,mind map can show students' thinking process and enhance students' ability of thinking in English.This paper aims at the problem.First,through the surveys to the students and teachers,it analyzes the pre,middle and post reading stages of primary school English reading teaching.The results show that elder students are easy to accept,use and understand mind maps,and have motivation and ability.Thirdly,this study selected two classes of grade six in primary school as the experimental class and the control class.The experimental class adopted the mind map to carry out the teaching of English reading,while the control class adopted the traditional reading teaching method.After a semester of reading study,a comparative study was conducted.Finally,the difference between the English reading achievement of the experimental class and the control class,the achievement sample,the pupils' mind map cognition use,the English reading strategy mastery,the English reading ability mastery and the reading participation degree were compared with the multidimensional data.Through investigation and comparison,this paper concludes that the introduction of mind mapping can improve students' low participation in reading and lack of interest in reading,and increase their interest and understanding of reading.Mind mapping can effectively improve students' reading ability and understanding ability.Mind mapping can improve students' ability to retell reading articles.Through the in-depth study of the whole paper,the drawing of mind map should be student-centered,constantly improve the students' active learning based on interest,the main way in class is group cooperation,English reading teaching should not be mere formality,but also pay attention to the cultivation of reading skills.
