The Theoretical Exploration And Practice Of Portrait Photography

On the basis of absorbing and inheriting the traditional imagination of the predecessors on portrait painting,the invention of photography helped extend portrait to yet another art category,and portrait photography attracted instant and close attention among the public and generated a lot of early practice and discussion by artists.Influenced by the constant update of photography technology and the movement of various literary and artistic trends,modernism photography was in full swing.Its expression changes from the depiction of people in traditional ritual portraits to the presentation of the mental state of characters and the surreal expression space.Under the semantics of post-modernism code misplacement,the concept of photography is constantly evolving and being challenged.Contemporary portrait photography makes more use of the subjective transformation and conceptual processing of the image of people to respond to the changes that are taking place in the world in the process of globalization.In the age of upheaval,contemporary artists are exploring other possibilities of expression.In this paper,the author mainly combs and discusses the historical context of portrait photography,and combines the theme characteristics of the work "Female Smokers" to study the expression of portrait photography in terms of theme features,so as to deepen the understanding of the time characteristics and cultural functions of portrait photography works.
