A Study Of Buddhist Terminology In "Xianyu Jing"

Terminology is not only the most important member of professional vocabulary family,but also has a complex relationship with general vocabulary.Therefore,terminology research has become an important research topic in lexicology.There are a large number of Buddhist documents and Buddhist terms in China,so the study of Buddhist terms is of great significance in the study of Chinese vocabulary history.Based on the theories of lexicology,terminology and cognitive linguistics,this paper makes a comprehensive study of the Buddhist terms in the translation of xianyujing by huijue in the Northern Wei Dynasty,using the methods of quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis.In the research process,we take Xianyu Sutra as the main corpus,supplemented by other Chinese Buddhist scriptures and documents outside Tibet,through the selection of key words,describe and analyze the Buddhist terms in the Sutra in terms of meaning and structure,describe the structural characteristics of Buddhist terms,investigate the source,use characteristics,development and evolution of Buddhist terms,and focus on the discussion of Buddhism The relationship between language and Chinese common words reveals the influence of Buddhist terms on common words.At the same time,by screening and screening the key words in xianyujing,we can find out the words that are not included in the Chinese dictionary,the meaning of which is missing or the interpretation is wrong,which will provide valuable materials for the revision of the Chinese dictionary,in order to illustrate the important significance of Buddhist terms in the study of Chinese vocabulary system.The paper is divided into three parts:The first part is the introduction.The main content is to explain the reason and significance of the topic,to define Buddhist terms,to introduce the corpus used and the research status of related issues.The second part is the main body,which is divided into the following four chapters:The first chapter is about the translation of Buddhist terms in xianyujing.Based on the exhaustive investigation of Buddhist terms in xianyujing,terms are divided into three categories according to the translation mode: transliteration terms,free translation terms and bilingual terms.After sorting out and classifying the Buddhist terms in Xianyu Sutra,283 Buddhist terms are counted,including 40 transliteration terms,232 free translation terms and 11 bilingual terms.The second chapter is the study of word formation of Buddhist terms in xianyujing.According to the way of word formation,Buddhist terms in xianyujing are divided into pure words and compound words;according to the way of wordformation,Buddhist terms in xianyujing are divided into phonetic word formation,rhetorical word formation and abbreviated word formation.This paper analyzes the factors of word formation in Buddhist terms.The third chapter studies the characteristics and development of Buddhist terms in Xianyu Sutra.The main content of this chapter is to investigate the diachronic evolution of the meaning of Buddhist terms in xianyujing.This mainly includes two aspects: one is to infuse the Chinese inherent words with the Buddhist concept meaning,which is the terminalization of the common words;the other is the evolution of the Buddhist terms into the common words,which should be the generalization of the terms.The result of these two changes is the formation of "community terms".In addition,there are also cases in which the single Buddhist term has evolved into the polysemy term,that is,the Buddhist term has evolved from the expression of a single Buddhist concept to the expression of two or more Buddhist concepts,the result of which is the evolution of the polysemy term.The content of this chapter is the key content of this paper,and it is also the most meaningful content of this paper.The fourth chapter is the significance of the study of Buddhist terms in the compilation of dictionaries.According to the usage of xianyujing vocabulary,this chapter compares the contents of Chinese dictionary,and discusses from five aspects:adding entries,adding meanings,revising interpretations,confirming in advance and supplementing evidences.The third part,conclusion.Summarize the full text,summarize the main content,summarize the law.
