The term is a word or phrase assigned to a concept in a certain professional field. In social science works, terms always define the key concepts, and thus term translation plays a significant role in the exchange and dissemination of foreign academic thoughts. Currently, we have already a few fruits in the research of term or term translation, for instance, Feng Zhiwei has proposed ten principles for the nomenclature of terms and the economic law of terms; Wei Xiangqing has analyzed the translation strategy of terms in the field of Humanities and Social Science; Zheng Shupu has classified the terms into two categories, "standardized terms" and "non-standardized terms" and proposed the translation strategy of the "non-standardized terms". However, most of the researches focus on the theoretical study, therefore, this thesis attempts to combine the term translation practice with theoretical results, and discusses about the ways to enhance term translation ability and to choose the appropriate translation strategy, in order to provide more references.TV series:future of the film involves many terms in the field of television media. In this book, there are also some terms in the field of psychology and sociology. Besides, the author has even created some new terms. Most of these terms define the main point of the book, thus a standardized and appropriate translation of these terms is important for the convey of academic thoughts of the whole book. Therefore this thesis combines the practice of translation of this book with terminological theoretical results. This thesis is organized around three key words:concept, term and term translation. Firstly, the term can be assigned to a concept, and in a specific field, there is a single reference between term and concept. Studying the relationships between concept and term, this thesis concludes several characteristics of terms. Then, in the guidance of these characteristics, this thesis focuses on the study of term translation from three angles:preparations, translation of "standardized terms" and translation of "non-standardized terms". In terms of preparations before translation, firstly the translator should establish the correct terminological idea; secondly the translator should have a wide reference to professional materials in the related field, thirdly a term bank should be established and enriched. In terms of translation of "standardized terms", the translator should firstly be able to distinguish terms from common nouns, take an intelligent use of reference books and professional materials. In terms of translation of "non-standardized terms", the translator should firstly be able to distinguish the terms without standardized translation from those without translation. For the terms without standardized translation, the translator should be capable to pick over the most appropriate version of translation. For the terms without translation, the translator should choose the most efficient word-formation pattern, and follow the economic law of term translation. In addition, the term bank should be continuously enriched and improved throughout the whole translation process, in order to further promote the standardization of term translation.
