"Selected Works" Li Shan Quoted "Huainanzi" Research

The study of Wen Xuan began with Xiao Gai,which at first only concentrates on linguistics.However,Li Shan's commentaries of Wen Xuan marks the turning point of the study of Wen Xuan,which usually has been regard as one of the four classic commentaries of Wen Xuan.Li Shan's commentaries of Wen Xuan emphasizes on tracing back the original sources of ancestral classics,which invisibly preserved a large account of ancient classics.Therefore,the great value of Li Shan's commentaries of Wen Xuan lay on the studies of ancient Chinese documents.The study of cited books in Li Shan's commentaries of Wen Xuan has begun from Qing Dynasty,and then gradually expanded from a statistical study of numbers of cited books to a comprehensive study including title,style,content and collation.This thesis mainly conducts a research on Li Shan's citations of Huai Nan Zi which preserved in his commentaries of Wen Xuan.The whole thesis structurally is divided into three parts.First,citations quoted by Li Shan's commentaries of Wen Xuan from Huai Nan Zi will be analyzed statistically,which will be presented by the amounts of citations Li Shan quoted from Huai Nan Zi,according respectively to each volume in Li Shan's commentaries of Wen Xuan and each chapter of Huai Nan Zi.Secondly,the citations of Li Shan's commentaries of Wen Xuan from Huai Nan Zi has been analyzed,aiming at comparing the similarities and differences,collecting documents,revealing the characteristics,summarizing the content.Thirdly,the documentation value of Li Shan's citations from Huai Nan Zi will be investigated.Meanwhile,citations quoted by Li Shan's commentaries of Wen Xuan from Huai Nan Zi will be judged,affirming the value and revealing the limitations of Li Shan's citations.
