Jiyunlou,a mythical chapter novel written in vernacular Chinese,is comprised of14 chapters and authored by “Yanxiazhuren” in Qing Dynasty.Based on the stories of Yi Liu and the Dragon Girl in the past, the novel introduces the role of the Tiger Girl creatively, and integrates multiple narrative modes such as gods, talents, and public cases,as well as the motifs of human and heterogeneous combination, marriage and love, and immortalism, telling the legendary life of Liu.It shows the concept of marriage and love in the society at that time. This thesis is divided into four chapters, which are comprehensive,in-depth and systematic analysis and research from the authors of novels, new changes in characters, multiple motifs and their cultural implications, narrative structures and marriage views.First of all, organize and explore the life and creation of the author of Jiyunlou.Yanxiazhuren was born in the early Qing Dynasty and was active in the reign of Emperor Kangxi. In terms of creation, the existing works are known as Jiyunlou and Huan Zhong You;the creative motive should be "self-exciting" and inspiring the people with aspirations.Secondly, comparing the images of Liu,the Dragon Girl and the Tiger Girl in the past, explore the new changes in the image of them in Jiyunlou and their reasons. The main manifestation is that Liu changed from the original scholar to the new identity of "God of Authority".His positive personality and outstanding talents such as loyalty and filial piety are more profound, and the tendency of secularization is very obvious. The dragon girl also changed from a fairy to a good wife, she is still shining with the heroine style;the tiger girl as a "heterogeneous" body presents a great human radiance, rich and sincere. The rich image of the two female characters in the text also shows the improvement of women's status, but the limitations are more.At the same time, starting from the multiple motifs to explore the cultural implications of Jiyunlou. The main research includes the conflict between "humanity" and "demoniness" under the motif of "combination of human and foreign body";the important role of talent in "genius and beauty motif" and its conflict with lust;and the integration of Taoist elements in the "Sheng Xian" motif. Finally, the textual value of Jiyunlou is explored from two aspects: narrative method and marriage view.On the one hand,it organically combines multiple narrative methods such as "magic","public case" to inject vitality into the decay period of the novels;on the other hand, the novel uses symmetric writing to make the works more logical and hierarchical. Also, the hidden process of the novel uses the behavior of Liu and his literati partners to ironically imprison the intellectuals in the feudal society;and the author successfully expressed his positive attitude against the arranged marriage system and tried to innovate the organic reform of it.
