The musical "Chicago" is based on the real crimes in the United States in the 1920 s.After being polished by several generations of artists,it has gradually become a global classic.This paper starts with the characters of Velma and Roxie,and depicts two female murderers with beautiful appearance and ugly inside.Through the content of the script and the lyrics to sort out the plot,to explore the relationship between the characters' psychological activities and the criminal behavior.In the end,I choose the two heroines' respective classical aria and their duet to analyze,combine with the summary of my own practical experience,and put forward my personal opinions on understanding characters,grasping aria,singing interpretation,body performance and emotional expression.
