Zhao Tieshan was one of the representatives of "Jin Shi Calligrapher" from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, and he enjoyed a high reputation in the North China Book Circle..The core content of his calligraphic thoughts is included in the "Xin yin Temple Calligraphy Narrative",with particular emphasis on the speculative learning concept of "line" and "meaning" in calligraphy.Tie Shan stated that his core idea of calligraphy is "the meaning of studying ancient times, the meaning is expensive and tangible;the meaning of my book, meaning is expensive and intangible";The formation of Zhao Tieshan's calligraphic thoughts has a combination of various factors in addition to the cultural background of the Republic of China.First,it is deeply rooted in the influence of private school and imperial examination education;Cultivation—the Confucian state of mind that is not closed and built to learn from books.Zhao Tieshan blended these factors to form a loose-winded,iron-boned style of calligraphy in the path of calligraphy. One of the highlights of his calligraphic thinking is the cultivation of extra-territorial skills, which is also of great significance in the current calligraphy.
