A Study Of The Value Of "Ma Yijiao" Composition In Southern Song Painting

Ma Yuan was a famous landscape painter in the Southern Song Dynasty.He was called the Four Great Masters of the Southern Song Dynasty together with Li Tang,Liu Songnian and Xia Gui.In Ma Yuan's landscape paintings,there are two forms of composition,panoramic composition and corner composition.The most representative of Ma Yuan's painting style is the "Ma Yijiao" composition.He pushed the expression mode of local close-up landscape painting to maturity.With the unique artistic features of the original "Ma Yijiao" composition,he laid a solid foundation for the formation of the style of landscape painting in the courtyard of the Southern Song Dynasty,which changed the direction of development of landscape painting in the Song Dynasty,and provided a reference for the exploration of the composition mode in later generations.Art critics praise Ma Yuan's artistic achievements with such words as "walking alone in the academy" and "walking alone in the academy",which shows that Ma Yuan plays an extremely important role in the history of Chinese art.This paper takes the composition of Ma Yuan's "Ma Yijiao" as the main research object,analyzes the four artistic characteristics of its composition form,and finds out the reasons for the formation of "Ma Yijiao" composition from the aspects of Ma Yuan's master,living environment,political background and cultural factors,and then reveals the value of Ma Yuan's paintings in the Southern Song Dynasty reflected in "composition style" and "aesthetic trend".In addition,the author found traces of "Yijiao" composition in some landscape paintings of yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasties,and even found that this composition style spread far to Toyo,which was respected by the Japanese painting world,so he further affirmed its role in the derivation of this composition form in later generations.Finally,it finds out the rationality and necessity of the change and innovation of the composition form in the development of landscape painting at that time.On the one hand,the change of political environment has changed Ma Yuan's mentality and brought his personal emotions into his artistic creation;on the other hand,the artistic language of "panoramic composition" in the Five Dynasties and the Northern Song Dynasty has reached the limit.At this time,there must be a new face,which is actually the general law of art development.
