Latin America is of great significance to the United States.Historically, the relationship between the United States and Latin America has been full of ups and downs.Since the end of the Cold War,the non-traditional security issues resulted from Latin America has brought a increasingly prominent influence to the United States.Among them, illegal immigration and transnational drug trafficking are the most representative ones.In terms of illegal immigration, the Obama administration took measures from two aspects, one is to ensure the legalization of those who meet certain standard. The other is to increase law enforcement efforts on those who don't meet the standard. However, the United States rarely cooperated with the origin country of llegal immigrants. In terms of transnational drug trafficking.,the Obama administration responded with frequent bilateral cooperation and multilateral cooperation.Even some of the cooperation could be understood as interference in the internal matters of other countries.Meanwhile, the domestic attitude of the United States towards drug is ambiguous. The view of this paper is that the results of the Obama administration on these two issues are superficial, and also triggered much controversy. The reason is they did not recognize the complexity of non-traditional security issues, and failed to find the root of the problem.
