The West-Route Red Army is an important event in China's military history and party history.It is a major historical issue that has attracted much attention from the society.It is also a case in which the academia have been arguing over many years.From October 1936 to March 1937,the Red Army of the West Road fought bloody battles in the Hexi Corridor.Many Red Army soldiers were sacrificed,captured,or left behind in the war.In the past,the study of the West-Route Red Army concentrated on areas such as party history,war history,and military history.It discussed the establishment,development,and significance of the West-Route Red Army.Little attention was paid to the West-Route Red Army who had been captured or flown to Gansu,Qinghai province and other places.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the West-Route Red Army and its descendants who are in Xunhua County to deepen and improve the research of the West-Route Red Army.From the perspective of anthropology,the author,based on historical documents and fieldwork,use a combination of static and dynamic research to dictate the descendants of the West-Route Red Army in local in order to understand them and their parents.The research concerning their living conditions,status changes,and their identity,and looking forward to providing the academia with a rich and detailed ethnographic materials on studying the West-Route Red Army and related groups.This article is divided into seven parts:The first part is a introduction.Including the selection of research reasons,significance,status,methods,content,innovation and so on.The second part introduces the history,geographical location,administrative division,population,economy,religion and current status of Hongguang Village.The third part briefly outlines the history of the West-Route Red Army and the basic information of them who living on Xunhua County.The fourth part presents the memory narratives of the descendants of the West-Route Red Army and Hongguang Village respectively,and a tension between them in order to gain the memory narrative of legitimacy and red resources.In the fifth part aims to describe the root-seeking trips,food taboos,and lifestyles of the West-Route Red Army and their descendants,and analyze the transformation of their identity and their adherence to Islamic culture as Muslims in local context.In the sixth part,the author discusses how the West-Route Red Army and their descendants in Xunhua understand their identity,abide by religious belief,and achieve transformation of their identities by three topics.At the same time,taking three cases as an example to examine how the descendants of the West-Route Red Army inherited the revolutionary spirit of their parents and ethnic culture and how they understood their dual identities.The seventh part,reflection and summary.The author rethinks and discusses some issues in fieldwork and writing,and even discusses and analyzes in terms of"historical authenticity" and "multiple identities".Finally summarize the full text.
