The South China Sea issue refers to the disputes that have arisen in the latter half of the 20 th century, especially since the end of the 1960 s,when some Southeast Asian countries raised requirements for territorial sovereignty and related maritime rights and interests of the South China Sea islands.Malaysia is an important party to the South China Sea issue and an important partner of China in ASEAN.In recent years, with the provocations of the Philippines,Vietnam and other countries on the issue of the South China Sea,and the involvement of extraterritorial powers such as the United States,Japan, and other countries, the situation in the South China Sea continues to heat up.As a result,Malaysia's South China Sea policy has undergone a deviation from China's change, and its anxiety over China's strategy has deepened. The trend of positive interaction between China and Malaysia in the South China Sea tilts toward competition and conflicts. In March 2018,the Malaysian media followed other South China Sea disputed countries and stakeholders in an attempt to rename to strengthen their real occupation of the South China Sea.The core of the Malaysian South Sea Policy are, firstly, the maintenance of regional peace and stability of Sino-Malaysian relations are the primary prerequisites for the settlement of disputes in the South China Sea.Secondly, fully taking advantage of the resources of the South China Sea and maximizing the realization of joint development.Thirdly, bilateral channels mainly, but not giving up seeking to peacefully solve the South China Sea issue through multilateral channels.
