The yan'an period(October 1935 to March 1948)is vitally important period in the development history of the Communist Party of China(the CPC).The cultural policies formulated and implemented by the CPC in yan'an period are the concentrated expression of cultural will.Marxism cultural theory,New democracy cultural theory and Mao Zedong's cultural thought are the ideological sources of their cultural policy making.On the basis,it has formed contents of cultural policy which includes establishing a cultural united battle front,uniting cultural forces,attaching importance to the guiding role of thought,absorbing intellectuals,completing the national policy;promoting common prosperity,inherit traditional culture,strengthening the protection of cultural relics,strengthening rural governance,carrying on the health education,setting an educational policy,strengthening school education,paying attention of news publishes,strengthen publicity,improving legal construction,building a democratic culture,developing community culture,making literary and artistic creation actively and so on.In this period,the cultural policy of the CPC had distinctive features include guidance,nationality,advancement and innovation.National,scientific,popular culture constitutes the connotation of their cultural policy.The cultural policies of this period promoted the sinicization of marxism,aroused the revolutionary enthusiasm of the intellectuals,established the fundamental purpose of serving the people,develop and expand the excellent cultural traditions of the Chinese nation,and form ed the party's spiritual guidance of cultural construction.
