Effects Of Chinese Communist Party's Cultural Policies On Tujia Cultural Development

The ethnic minority cultural development can greatly promote the social and economic development in the minority areas, while the regional economic and social development will react upon the cultural progress in that area. As Chairman Mao said, "Any given culture (as an ideological form) is a reflection of the politics and economics of a given society, and the former in turn has a tremendous influence and effect upon the latter... " Excellent minority cultures are important parts of the culture of Chinese nation. Tujia Culture is just one of them. The Communist Party's cultural policy plays an important role in guiding and pushing the development of Tujia Culture. After a long period of investigation and surveys, the author explores the development of Tujia Culture.The objective of this research on minority cultural policy is to find out the laws, characters, and routes of the modernization of Tujia Culture in Jianshi County, based on its locality, uniqueness of structure, heritage and development under the framework of Chinese Communist Party's ethnic minority cultural policy.This paper also discusses the heritage and development patterns of minority culture, makes further insight into the motivation of the people of Tujia Nationality in Jianshi County, and interprets the culture's content in order to further modernize the ethnic minority culture. As a result, the overall economic and social development in the minority area will be quickened, which is the significance of this research.This dissertation is divided into five chapters. The first three chapters introduce the significance, the party's national cultural policy and the historical background of Tujia Culture in Jianshi County, which are the fundamental part of the theoretical research. The fourth chapter describes the effects of the Chinese Communist Party's cultural policy on Tujia Culture, and illustrates the present situations of Tujia Culture in the process of development, which reflects the influence of the Party's cultural policies upon Tujia Culture. The fifth chapter analyzes the modernization of Tujia Culture, and the achievements made interactively by the external cause—correct guidance of the Party's policy, and the internal cause—the foundation of Tujia Culture.
