Hollywood's Participation In Public Diplomacy In The Mobilization Of American War Public Opinion

Hollywood is synonymous with the mainstream American film industry.Hollywood films are closely related to U.S.cultural traditions,values and national image.The U.S.government assists and fosters Hollywood films to the dominant position of the world,which in turn assume important responsibilities for U.S.public diplomacy.In the international wars which the U.S.participated in and launched,Hollywood films are a powerful tool to achieve war mobilization for U.S.government in the level of public opinions' support.The history of war mobilization by Hollywood's participation in American public diplomacy and the deepening of U.S.diplomatic history with the characteristics of militarization are developing in parallel.War mobilization is an important part of U.S.public diplomacy strategy.This thesis outlines the history of Hollywood's participation in U.S.war mobilization.Elaborating on the historical evolution of Hollywood's participation in different periods of U.S.diplomatic history reveals the incorporation of Hollywood into the war mobilization system by U.S.government and relevant departments.A case study in each historical period more clearly shows how the U.S.government guides and controls Hollywood's mobilizing for its militarized external expansion.By studying the historical process,the thesis traces the source of Hollywood's participation.The premise and source of its participation is the entrenched militarized U.S.foreign policy,which necessarily requires construction of an advantageous discourse system.By using public diplomacy and Hollywood films to construct the war discourse system for it through war mobilization,which also further deepens the process of militarization of its foreign policy.The essence of Hollywood's participation in war mobilization is to serve the U.S.militarized foreign policy and its interest.A mature mechanism and model for mutual benefit has been formed,and profoundly reflects the militarization and hegemonic property of U.S.diplomacy.
