After the end of the Cold War,the international political situation has taken a profound change. The U.S.-Australia alliance takes a important role in the U.S.Asia-Pacific Alliance. It was born right after the Second World War.It takes more than 60 years for Australia to closely follow the United States, which makes a good difference for U.S.to keep global hegemony. In the 21 st century, the U.S.-Australian alliance not only failed to “sink” after the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the disappearance of its original targets,on the contrary,it has made some new developments, especially in the context of the US's strategy of “returning to the Asia-Pacific”.The alliance of cooperation has continuously been strengthened and deepen. What is its specific performance? what is the reason? Since the end of the Cold War,the U.S.-Australia alliance has been weakened one time, but since then it has been continuously strengthened. The deep reason behind this delicate transformation is that the United States and Australia have mutual needs and benefits from each other.Australia, due to its sparse population and limited strength, intends to dominate Asia Pacific and establish a development strategy of "self-defense under the framework of the alliance".It hopes that relying on the US-Australia alliance to achieve its own national defense, and then realize its dream of being a big country in the Asia-Pacific.The United States, based on Australia's geographical proximity to Asia, and consistent with its own goals, similar cultures and firm performance, tried to establish itself as the “South Anchor” of Asia-Pacific affairs, thereby consolidating and expanding the United States in Asia Pacific.Strategic interests. It is the strategic mutual needs of the United States and Australia that have jointly boosted the continuous warming of the US-Australia alliance. After the Cold War,the United States and the Australian alliance started with the signing of the "Australia-America Security Treaty" by the United States,Australia, and New Zealand in 1951.US-Australia relations make Australia one of the most important components of the U.S.world alliance system and play the same role as Japan for the United States. The“Southern Anchor”of the Asia-Pacific Strategy has enabled Australia to closely follow the pace of the American world. For example, sending troops to the Iraq War.It can be said that Australia is one of the oldest and closest allies of the United States in the Asia Pacific region, but is it a truth that the United States and Australia has always been in the close and tight relationship after the Cold War with each other? The answer is obviously no,as the United States has firmly rejected Australia`s request for the United States to send troops to East Timor. After the Cold War,the U.S.-Australia relations had a short“suspended period”.After the Cold War.The U.S.-Australia alliance was immediately maintained and strengthened. This paper intends to explore the evolutionary causes and backgrounds of the US-Australia alliance system from the current situation of the alliance system.
