Research On The Political Dilemma Since The Transition To Democracy In South Korea Under Chaebolism

Since the third wave of democratization,many authoritarian countries have transformed into democratic countries,established democratic systems and entered the stage of democratic consolidation.Compared with the establishment of a democratic system,how to consolidate the results of democratic transformation and how to make the democratic system operate effectively,new challenges are more difficult for emerging democracies.Some countries have entered a negative stage of democratic consolidation,it is particularly important to profoundly study the causes.South Korea is at the special connection point between the East Asian Confucian cultural circle and the Western capitalist economy.In the era of authoritarian government,the economy developed rapidly,and many well-known chaebol groups appeared.However,since the democratic transition,there has been an endless stream of political and political chaos in the country,and the chauvinist elements are often mixed behind it.This article uses the Korean chaebol group as an entry point and attempts to discover the correlation between the Korean chaebol and the chaos of democratic politics.With the strong support of the authoritarian government,the chaebol group grew all the way up,and from the authoritarian government to the elected civilian government,the weakened strong government control over enterprises further promoted the chaebol to become stronger.From "strong country and weak enterprise" to "weak country and strong enterprise",the chaebol in South Korea changed from the tool of the government to the master of the country.This change in the balance of government and enterprise forces and the characteristics of the chaebol group eventually led to the emergence of "chaebol politics".This article summarizes the political chaos in South Korea since the democratic transition from the two aspects of political power and society,and points out that the dual social structure under the domination of the chaebol and the use and intervention of the chaebol to the defects of the political system are the real reasons for the continuous chaos of democratic politics in South Korea.Studying the chaos of the Korean chaebol and democratic politics,and put forward some suggestions for reforming chaebol politics,it has certain academic value for studying the specific situation of democratic consolidation at this stage and the democratic development in other emerging democracies.
