After the end of the cold war,India first established a one-party party system of the India National Congress(INC),and then gradually realized the transformation to a multi-party competitive party system dominated by the INC and the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP)in the 1990 s.Since the 1990 s,the rapid economic development of India has accelerated the social transformation,so the traditional social stratification and social structure in India have undergone great changes. The middle class has developed rapidly and gradually become a group of political groups that can hardly be ignored, playing an important role in the political life of India. Therefore, the middle class of India has attracted the attention of many experts and scholars at home and abroad and become their new research object, leaving precious spiritual wealth for us to study Indian politics.Scholars at home and abroad have discussed the political parties and party politics with Indian characteristics from different angles. This paper mainly studies the relationship and characteristics between the changes in the number, composition and political will of the Indian middle class and the transformation of the Indian party system, and explores the influence of the changes of the Indian middle class on the transformation of the Indian party system. This paper holds that the transformation of political party system in India is the result of the joint action of all relevant factors in the long-term development process, among which the Indian middle class plays an important role. After the cold war,the Rao government carried out radical reforms, and the Indian economy gradually embarked on the road of rapid development. The upgrading of the industrial structure and the differentiation of the social structure in India have strengthened the power of the Indian middle class. They participate in politics by voting, affect the political decisions and intentions of the political parties, promote the change of the ruling party, and then affect the transformation of the party system in India. In addition, the political characteristics of the Indian middle class are not only radical and conservative, but also change in different periods.Changes in the political attitudes and attitudes of the Indian middle class can affect the performance of political parties in the general election. Therefore, how to comply with and satisfy the political will of the middle class to the greatest extent and win the support of the growing middle class is the key factor for Indian political parties to win the generalelection and become the ruling party. The change of power between Indian political parties has changed the political party structure and promoted the transformation of Indian political party system.
