After nearly four decades of rapid economic development, the main contradiction in our society has become a contradiction between the people's ever-growing needs for a better life and unbalanced development. The unbalanced development of the region has become one of the important factors restricting the further development of our country's society at this stage. In the Tibetan areas, due to poor natural conditions, poor health service conditions, and weak economic development base, infectious diseases have been frequent for a long time. The health level of the residents is lower than that of the Han nationality. The health problems of the Tibetan primary and middle school students in particular have become more prominent.Health problems have plagued development of Tibetan areas. From the point of view of development economics, health is an economic issue.Health investment not only helps people's health, but also is crucial to economic development. From the perspective of health investment, most studies now believe that health education classes can improve health by improving people's health awareness and improving their health behaviors.Looking back at the existing literature, most studies pay more attention to health education in schools in the Han area, and there are few studies devoted to school health education in the Tibetan areas. However, for Tibetan areas with outstanding health problems, research on health education is more needed; For the specific content of health education research, more studies have failed to put together health education and health cognition and behavior, and explore the role and effect of health education. From the perspective of development economics and health economics, this paper uses the statistical statistical analysis method to study the relationship between health education and student health awareness and behavior,so as to provide policy recommendations for exploring the health education model suitable for primary and secondary schools in Tibetan areas.Under this goal, this study selected 6 656 students from grade 3-9 in 54 schools in 5 counties in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and conducted relevant health education, health awareness, and behavior for school leaders, head teachers, health education teachers, and students. The study first described the current status of health education and students' health awareness and behavior.Secondly, the relationship between health education and the student's health cognition was analyzed using the OLS regression method. The relationship between health education and the student's health behavior was analyzed by Probit regression.Through the description and correlation analysis, the research findings are as follows:First, schools do not pay enough attention to health education, and lack of investment in health education programs. The specific performance is that only 58.2%(3 872/6 656)of the students' classes have special health education courses;there is a shortage of full-time health education teachers, and only 39.6%(1 532/3 872)of the schools have full-time health education teachers. The proportion of teachers who had received specialized health education knowledge training was only 45.5%(1762/3 872);the hardware investment in health education was obviously lacking;many schools did not have health education textbooks or multimedia teaching videos;at the same time, junior high schools were Hardware investment is better than primary school. On average there is only one health education class per week, and many schools(42.1%,1629/3 872)have not tested the student health education classes, and have not paid enough attention to the courses.Second, students have low levels of health awareness and health behaviors need to be improved. The average score of student health cognition is 6.2 points, that is,the average answer to 6.2 tracks in 12 questions;wash hands before eating(33%),wash hands after going to the toilet(28%),drink raw water(34%),brush teeth(52%),wearing underwear(61%)and other acts are much lower than the average level in Qinghai Province and the country.Third, there are differences in the role of health education in the health cognition of primary and middle school students.Health education was significantly related to the health cognition of primary school students, but there was no statistically significant correlation with junior students' health cognition level.Whether there is a health education section, whether the health education teachers are full-time,the number of weekly health education sessions conducted, whether the test of student health knowledge is positively correlated with primary school students' health cognition level(regression coefficient is 0.351,1.038,0.805,0.292,P value<0.01,respectively).Fourth,health education is positively related to students' health behaviors.Compared with junior high school students, health education is more effective in forming pupils' health behaviors. Finally, based on the research findings, combined with the existing literature and the current state of health education in Yushu Tibetan areas, this study proposes recommendations for further health education:(1)Focusing on primary and secondary schools to establish a school health education promotion mechanism to foster health Educate teachers;(2)Rationally increase the number of health education classes, combine classroom teaching with extracurricular practice, timely test the effectiveness of student health education classes, and pay attention to students' actual health behaviors;(3)Health education in primary and secondary schools should be different;(4)Strengthen the construction of school health infrastructure.
