The status of textbooks in the Korean education system is quite extraordinary due to the fact that the core of the curriculum reform in Korea is based on the textbooks as well as the classroom activities and examination evaluations.Especially in the process of teaching Chinese as a foreign language outside of China,textbook is the only way for the educators to pass on the knowledge to the learners efficiently and quickly.Therefore,the quality of the textbooks basically determines the quality of Chinese courses and the level of the teaching techniques.On this basis it is necessary to study and research the textbooks based on the expectations of the learners.This thesis consists of the following parts.In the first chapter,we list the importance and the objectives of the Chinese textbook reform,and describe the contents and methods of the research.In the second chapter,we describe in details the characteristics of the Chinese curriculum reform from the first reform in 2007 till the most recent reform in 2009.In the third chapter,we describe the background,content,process and all the related information about the questionnaire.In this chapter we emphasize the object,content and implementation of this research.In the fourth chapter,we analyze data and results of the questionnaire,as well as the object of the research,the Chinese learners' cognition,understanding of the teaching materials and learners' needs and expectations.We also describe opinions and proposals about reform.In the fifth chapter,we organize all the above mentioned content.
