With the highlighting of the value and role of dance education,more and more students have experienced the improvement of physical and aesthetic qualities brought about by the dance movement and the proper foundation laid for their future professional development.Guizhou Province is a multi-ethnic province,where people from all ethnic races are good at singing and dancing and versatile.Thus,dance education has also emerged on the stage of primary education.With 10 primary schools in Y City,Guizhou Province as the investigation object and K primary school in Y city as an individual case,this paper adopts the document literature,interviews,questionnaires,mathematical statistics and other methods to conduct an in-depth study on the current status of dance courses in primary schools in Guizhou Province in the hope of providing a reference for the development and popularization of dance teaching in primary schools in Guizhou Province,and the following conclusions have been drawn:1.From the three dimensions of teachers,students and teaching,it's found that the teachers tend to be younger;the teaching period of teachers is shorter;the academic qualifications of teachers are mainly college degree(junior college);the title structure of teachers is relatively unreasonable and teachers have a relatively lower degree of specialization in the dance teaching of primary schools in Y City.In terms of students,there are significantly fewer boys participating in dance learning;the motivations for students to participate in dance courses are diverse;the degree of preference for dance is higher;and the demand for dance learning is greater.In terms of teaching,the teaching contents are mainly about basic dance,which are relatively abundant and many of them are with local ethnic characteristics,but lack of uniformity.In terms of the teaching methods,teachers mostly adopt the explanation and demonstration method,complete teaching method,decomposition teaching method and practice method.In terms of the venue facilities,they are relatively inadequate in the dance classroom.2.The following suggestions for development are put forward aiming at the current development situation of dance courses in Y city such as strengthening the professional training and guidance for dance teachers,improving the enthusiasm of students for dance,standardizing the course contents and teaching materials,and innovating the teaching methods and means.3.The countermeasures are proposed to improve the dance courses of primary schools in Guizhou Province like improving the quality of faculty,raising teachers' professional level,enhancing the publicity efforts,improving students' enthusiasm for learning,strengthening the standardability of teaching,increasing the investment and improving the venue facilities.
