What are the basic abilities and qualities of teachers engaged in STEM education? Around the above three problems, combined with literature research,open-ended interview and classroom observation and recording in STEM teaching,a representative schools is chose in our institute to do research. The following main conclusions are drawn:(1)There are five stages of STEM teaching in the primary school.(2)Classroom design and teaching of STEM education in primary schools can be carried out in the following five aspects: a)outstanding students' classroom practice;b)encouraging children to actively use STEM vocabulary and language in class and out of class;c)use of multiple-functional and variety of teaching aids in class;d)standardize the use of the students' notebook;e)build an open classroom with children's family.(3)Students' interest and enthusiasm for STEM education can be enhanced by strengthening the following three aspects: a)by the integration of interdisciplinary teaching, make the classroom knowledge more rich and more attractive;2)more abundant classroom practice;3)to provide a safe and relaxed classroom environment for children, more abundant.(4)Teachers engaged in STEM education should have the following four basic abilities and qualities: a)the ability of integrated STEM teaching;b)innovative classroom instructional design capabilities;c)proficiency in some essential pedagogic theories and methods,so as to teach and counsel students in the entire process of before class, during class and after class;d)healthy personal psychological adjustment ability and adaptability.
