An Investigation On The Current Situation Of The Miao Folk Sports "Hagawangnai" In Southeastern Guizhou

This article reviews a large amount of literature,bases on field investigations,uses participation observation methods,interview survey methods,questionnaire surveys,and first-hand accounts of “ Hak Gad Wangl Nail ” in Kaitang Town,Kaili City,southeastern Guizhou.The historical origins,development status,value functions,related ecological cultures,and inheritance mechanisms and dilemma of ethnic minority folk activities are also discussed,and suggestions on inheritance and protection are given.In ancient times,it was organized by women and used as a matrimonial courting event where women would engage in the folk sport of catching fish.This essay intended to answer questions of the author and most of the villagers about the background of this activity and festival,intends to tap into the meaning of traditional Hmub women's traditional folk sports activities,and inspire local people's cultural self-confidence and consciousness.Also,this essay intends to help the traditional custom of “Hak Gad Wangl Nail ” face against development difficulties while also be inherited and developed better.First,this article expounds the origins of “Hak Gad Wangl Nail”.Through extensive literature and internet archival research,“Hak Gad Wangl Nail” is shown to be a folk activity involving catching fish related to ancient Miao collective fishing and hunting practices or ancient spring outing customs for courting purposes.“Hak Gad Wangl Nail” was previously used as a way to celebrate the Sister Festival(or “Hak Gad Wangl Nail” festival)in the region.According to traditional Miao folk songs,This folklore and festival originated from Taijiang County in the Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Southeastern Guizhou or was formed in Shidong,Laotun or Geyi.Secondly,this essay describes and analyzes the current situation of the development of “Hak Gad Wangl Nail”,including the description of the form,time,space,content,organization,participation of the public,the attitude,feelings and level of support and degree of support,as well as the attitude of the government.The analysis also contrasts the differences in activities in different regions.Similar activities are now held in different provinces,cities,and regions,but there are many differences in the content and significance of these activities.Third,this essay seeks to expound the value and function of predicament faced by “Hak Gad Wangl Nail” in Kaitang Township.All of them are local villagers' own organizations in Kaitang Township.The conventions followed are all consciously observed.The government does not participate in the organization,but has helped in mitigating disputes over these activities.On the other hand,problems such as inadequate cultural propaganda have led to the obstruction of the development of “Hak Gad Wangl Nail”.Finally,this article proposes to strengthen the education and publicity of ethnic culture,enhance the awareness of protection of national cultural heritage,and arouse the national identity and pride of local Hmub peoples.For future development,the government should attach great importance to the protection of ethnic minority traditional culture.This folklore activity was improved to adapt it to the modern society's big market and develop into an outdoor quality development activity;it advocates the application for the Hmub nationality woman's “Hak Gad Wangl Nail”this folk activity to be included in the Hmub intangible cultural heritage list;government funding Support,protect cultural soils,provide subsidies to people who have fish fields,and encourage people to keep more paddy fields for fish farming.People in the area feel strongly about the importance of their own cultural identity.Helpfrom local government and the Communist Party will help to strengthen communities and their own consciousness.This essay seeks to prove that “Hak Gad Wangl Nail” is a very important tradition to local Hmub culture.
