Cooperation is an important way to solve the social dilemmas. To explore what factors can improve the level of individual cooperation is crucial to social development.Status and power,as the important basis of social hierarchy, have different influences on individual behaviors.Current studies on status show that status can improve justice, pay attention to the needs of others, and have a positive impact on individuals. However, few studies have focused on the influence of individual status on cooperative behaviors in social dilemmas.Power often has a negative impact on individuals in interpersonal communication, which means that individuals tend to be self-centered and pay no attention to others' feelings in order to achieve their own goals. The influence of power on individual behaviors is quite different from that of status. Therefore, when individuals are at different levels of power,it is worth discussing whether and how the influence of status on cooperative behaviors in social dilemmas will change.According to the sociometer theory, whether self-esteem,as an individual's perception of self-worth,plays an mediator in the influence of status and power on cooperative behavior.Based on this,on the basis of exploring the influence of status on cooperative behaviors in social dilemmas, this study discusses the moderating effect of power between status and cooperative behaviors in social dilemmas, and exploring the mediating effect of self-esteem between status and cooperative behaviors in social dilemmas,Try to establish a mediated moderation model. This study is divided into three parts with a total of 5 experimental studies. All experiments used the paradigm of public goods dilemmas to study cooperative behavior. The first study aims to explore the influence of status on cooperative behaviors in social dilemmas,in which experiment 1a tests whether there is a correlation between status and cooperative behavior in social dilemmas, and whether status can predict cooperative behavior in social dilemmas.Experiment 1b validates the causal relationship between status and cooperative behavior in social dilemmas by the MacArthur Ladder priming technique.Study 2 explored the moderating effect of power on cooperative behaviors in social dilemmas by measuring individual sense of power(experiment 2a)and by the role play priming sense of power(experiment 2b).The purpose of study 3 is to explore whether self-esteem plays a mediating effect between status and cooperative behaviors in social dilemmas, and to establish a mediated moderation model.Results:(1)Status effects cooperative behaviors in social dilemmas. The cooperation level of high-status individuals is higher than that of low-status individuals.(2)The influence of power moderating status on cooperative behavior in social dilemmas. When the sense of power is low,the level of cooperation of high-status individuals is significantly higher than that of low-status individuals, but the influence of different status levels on individual cooperation behavior is not significant when the the sense of power is high.(3)The influence of self-esteem mediating status on cooperative behavior in social dilemmas. In addition, the sense of power moderating the influence of status on cooperative behavior through the mediating of self-esteem.that is,there is a mediated moderation model.Specifically, regardless of the level of power sense, the level of State self-esteem of high-status individuals is significantly higher than that of low-status individuals, and then the level of cooperation is improved. However, compared with the high-status individuals, the level of power has a greater impact on the low-status individuals. To sum up,the results show that in the measurement of the influence of status on cooperative behavior in social dilemmas,we should fully consider the moderating role of power and the mediating role of self-esteem.By exploring the influence of status on cooperative behavior in social dilemmas, this study finds a mediated moderation model. It is expected to enrich the antecedent variables affecting individual cooperative behavior in social dilemmas and provide new ideas to help solve existing social dilemmas.
