With the development of China's economy and the improvement of people's living standards,people's demand for sports is increasing.With the economic and social benefits brought by marathon,more and more cities hope to promote the urban economy by holding marathon.In recent years,the "blowout" development of marathon events and the relative lag of the organization and operation of marathon events makes it is a questionable for whether marathon events have the economic benefits.In order to research the economic impact of marathon on cities,the economic impact of marathon on cities of different industrial structures,the economic impact of different levels of marathons on cities and the impact has time-lag,the author uses panel data of 268 cities in China in 2007-2016 periods,establishes double different model and uses software to make an empirical analysis on the effects.The results indicate that marathon events can promote the development of urban economy.The host city where the proportion of tertiary industry is in the range of [40%,60%),has the greatest promoting effect on urban economy.The higher level of marathon events,the promoting on urban economy is better.And this promoting on urban economy has a certain lag effect.In order to make the marathon promote urban economy better,we should have strategic planning and government support about marathon,innovation operation model,promote integrated industrial development and speeding up the construction of professional personnel and so on.It is expected to provide reference suggestions for the development of the marathon,so as to maximize the economic function of the marathon.
