The Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China released a new high school biology curriculum standard in March 2018.The replacement of the curriculum standard means that the new high school biological textbook will be put into use in the future.In 2017,the Ministry of Education launched the preparation of the new textbook.At present,it is an important time to organize textbooks,so research on advanced foreign concepts is indispensable.The Crosscutting Concept is one of the three dimensions of scientific learning proposed by the American education community.The domestic textbooks pay insufficient attention to the Crosscutting Concepts,and researches about them are mostly based on qualitative analysis.The research on the advanced educational concept is very important to the preparation of the new high school biological textbooks.This study is based on combing and summarizing the Crosscutting Concepts of high school biology in NGSS,and comprehensively applying historical research methods,comparative research methods,questionnaire survey methods,and quantitative research methods to formulate an evaluation scale for the Crosscutting Concepts in high school biological textbooks.And then it is used to evaluate current high school biological textbooks:Firstly,the historical research method is used to translate and comb the Crosscutting Concepts of high school biology proposed by NGSS,and summarize the characteristics of the Crosscutting Concepts of biology in high school,so as to extract the characteristics of high school biological textbooks;secondly,according to the characteristics preliminary drafting the evaluation index of the Crosscutting Concepts of high school biological textbooks,and then modify the proposed evaluation indexes through questionnaire survey.Determine the percentage of each evaluation index by ranking the importance of indexes,and form a scale;third,test the scale and modify the scale according to the reliability and validity;finally estimate the current five edition high school biological textbook.The data shows that the Crosscutting Concepts of the five versions of the high school biological textbooks are higher than the qualified level.There are five common advantages:(1)the content selection of the textbooks are typical and exemplary,and can fully reflect the structure and development of the biology;(2)focus on the cultivation of students' interpretation,reasoning and summarizing ability;(3)it is easy to obtain required material,activities in textbooks are highly feasible and take into account the ethics and social impacts;(4)The writing levels of five textbooks are high,the content is clear,and the language is simple and clear.At the same time,each has its own writing style,in line with its own logic and biological logic;(5)pay attention to the connection with the senior curriculum.At the same time,there are also some common shortcomings:(1)the number of activities and the time required are not reasonable enough,some too small,and others too many;(2)There is no clear requirement for the formation of students' Crosscutting Concept;(3)improperly dealing with the prevailing concept of the students;(4)can't reflect the students' gains;(5)the textbook is not sufficient to support the development of all students.The five editions of the textbooks have their own characteristics:(1)the knowledge content of the textbooks of the PEP is rich;(2)the content of the textbooks of Hebei Children's Publishing House is the most abundant and self-contained in a logical system;(3)the textbooks of Zhejiang Scientific Press is closely related at the students' daily life,but not rich in expression;(4)The textbook of Phoenix Education Publishing is relatively mature in guiding the practice of Crosscutting Concept,but the number of activities is too large;(5)the textbooks of China Cartographic Publishing House are closely connected with students' daily life and other subjects.
