At the national conference on ideological and political work of colleges and universities,General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed that "the foundation of a university is to establish morality and cultivate people",and that "we should take morality and cultivate people as the central link".This reveals the prominent position of moral education for college students in higher education.In order to enhance the effectiveness of moral education for college students,colleges and universities can return to the tradition and draw nourishment from the excellent traditional Chinese culture.China's fine traditional culture contains rich philosophical thoughts,humanistic spirit,enlightenment thoughts and moral concepts,which can provide beneficial inspiration for moral construction.As a part of Chinese fine traditional culture,Dong Zhongshu's moral education thought has rich connotation,which has many similarities with the moral education of college students.Therefore,it is of positive practical significance to fully understand and explore Dong Zhongshu's moral education thought for improving the effectiveness of moral education of college students.The article systematically expounds the value of Dong Zhongshu's moral education thought to the moral education of college students by using the methods of literature research,multidisciplinary research and the combination of theory and practice.The article is divided into four parts:The first part gives a comprehensive overview of Dong's moral education thoughts,mainly sorts out the social background of Dong's moral education thoughts,and makes a detailed summary of his moral education goals,contents,principles and methods.The second part mainly analyzes some deficiencies in the current moral education of college students,and then analyzes the reasons for these deficiencies from different aspects.The level of moral education goal of college students is not obvious;The moral education of college students is not enough;The methods of moral education for college students are not targeted.The third part discusses the necessity and feasibility of integrating Dong's moral education thought into college students' moral education.From a practical point of view,the integration of Dong's moral education thought into college students' moral education is beneficial to the improvement of college students' moral cultivation;It is conducive to the construction of harmonious interpersonal relations;It is conducive to the practice of core socialist values.From the nature,there are some similarities in the goals,contents and methods of moral education,which provide feasibility for Dong's moral education thoughts to be integrated into the moral education of college students.In the fourth part,aiming at the existing problems and causes of the current moral education of college students,and referring to Dong's moral education thoughts,this paper discusses the ways to improve the effectiveness of the moral education of college students from three aspects: thegoal of the moral education of college students,the content of the moral education of college students and the methods of the moral education of college students.The study found that many components of Dong's moral education thought meet the requirements of modern social development.Colleges and universities can seek ideas from Dong's moral education thought,learn from the beneficial elements of Dong's moral education thought,and apply it to the moral education of college students.This has certain reference significance to enhance the effectiveness of college students' moral education and enhance their moral quality.
